2. Installation
- Use genuine DK rolls or the printer will not read the media length — the roll spool carries a sensor pattern.
- Set the roll type in the panel to match: die-cut labels and continuous tape behave differently at the cutter.
- Join the network, then print the settings label and stick it to the machine.
- Load templates onto the printer if it will be used standalone at a shipping desk.
Keep the transport locks and packaging until the machine has run a full week without fault. Wide-format and industrial units are shipped with several restraints, and a missed one shows up as a media fault days later.
3. Drivers and integration
- Install the full package: the label design tool is where templates are built and uploaded.
- For scripted use, the printer accepts raster commands over the network — useful for warehouse systems.
- Direct thermal has no ink: never expect labels to survive heat or long sun exposure. For those, use a thermal transfer machine.
4. Maintenance schedule
Intervals assume normal duty. Dusty warehouses and continuous shifts need the shorter end of every range.
| Monthly | Clean the printhead with the cleaning sheet supplied with the rolls. |
|---|---|
| Every roll change | Check the cutter for adhesive build-up. |
| Every 6 months | Wipe the roller and the media sensor window. |
| As needed | Print the test label to confirm density after cleaning. |
5. Common faults
Labels come out blank
Media loaded the wrong way up. Direct thermal prints on one side only.
Print fades after a few weeks on file
Expected: direct thermal fades with heat and light. Use thermal transfer for archive labels.
Cutter jams on continuous tape
Adhesive on the blade. Clean it; do not force the cutter.
Printer not found on the network
Two interfaces active at once — disable Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct if the wired connection is the one in use.
Text is cut off at the edge
The template is wider than the loaded roll. Templates are tied to a specific media width.
Isolate the machine at the mains before reaching into the media path. Thermal printheads and fusers hold heat for a long time after the last job, and cutter blades stay under spring tension.
